Meet Mrs. Flaherty Graduated from the University of Scranton in 2000 with a degree in Elementary Education. Completed Masters of Reading from West Chester University and became a Certified Reading Specialist in 2005. Continued education through WCU. Taught kindergarten in North Philadelphia for 2 years. Have been teaching first grade in Upper Moreland School District for14 years. Have a 7 year old named Patrick, a 4 year old named Colin and a 1 year old named Will. Mrs. Flaherty in first grade!

Primary School Trimesters
Three marking periods Report cards go home on Dec. 11th, March 23rd and the last day of school. Conferences twice a year- (Nov. 23, 24, 25 and March 21, 22, 23) Other conferences will be held at teacher or parent request.

Curriculum Spelling/Phonics
Phonics skills Beg. sounds, end sounds, blends, digraphs, short vowels, long vowels Taught through letter blending, word sorts, word study notebook, decodable readers. Each week a spelling/phonics skill will be sent home to practice. Assessed through weekly dictations and writing samples UM Core Words List of words students will learn to spell correctly Assessed through dictation
