3 Indirect Objects Answer the question “to who” or “for whom” the action was performed. Example: Mario gives Maria the book. What does Mario give? = the direct object Who does he give it to? = the indirect object

4 Example I have a ticket for Carly. -The direct object is the ticket. It receives the direct action of the verb. -What is the indirect object? Carly Carly answers the question of whom the ticket is for.

5 The indirect object tells where the object is going. He buys me flowers. What does he buy? = direct object Who does he buy them for? = indirect object

6 The pronouns Pronouns replace words Indirect object pronouns replace the indirect object which means it removes it from the sentence. me (to me, for me)nos (to us, for us) te ( to you, for you; informal)os ( to/for y’all) le (to/for him, her, you; formal)les (to/for you all or them)

7 Sentence structure with the pronoun… + + + Ejemplo: Juan compra muchas flores para mí. Juan me compra muchas flores. subjectverb direct object indirect object pronoun What does Juan buy? = direct object Where is the direct object going? = indirect object Replace the para mí with the I.O.P. and rewrite the sentence
