The Thiokol Memorial Project, Inc. Mission
Remember and honor the 29 Thiokol Plant Workers killed by the plant explosion of February 3, 1971 Recognize and honor the resilience of those who survived, the courage of those that risked their lives, and the compassion of all that supported the rescue and recovery effort Recognize the Patriotic contribution made to our nation by the Thiokol Plant Workers and preserve and share the history Educate our young people about the pride these workers took in their work, their resilience in times of peril, and their unwavering commitment to fulfill America’s sacred obligation to our soldiers fighting in Vietnam. May the lives remembered, the deeds recognized, and the human spirit of oneness which overcame devastation, inspire hope, promote freedom and affirm that each life is a gift worthy of respect and honor. Towards that end we plan to host a 45th Anniversary Ceremony on February 3, 2016 and we shall raise funds to plan, build, and endow a monument, education center, and museum to honor the workers, first responders, and medical care facilities.
