26 March 2007LEADE/ D. Swoboda2 BIS beam interlock system Requirements : Cable length between CIBU and double current loop generation shall not exceed 4 m for electrical signal integrity reason. Experiments to define exact location of CIBU. Experiments to assure that interlock signal integrity at arrival on the CIBU is guaranteed. The requirements are specified in [1] Chapter 5. The cable length between patch-panel and the associated CIBU must be given to AB/CO to check the electrical compatibility for the cables from BIC to CIBU. CIBU needs to be connected to safe power source. Actions : B. Puccio will supply proposal for procedure of periodic IL chain tests. CIBU implementation : One patch-panel which is installed by AB/CO in the dedicated rack is foreseen between the CIBU and the BIC crate) ATLAS: all CIBUs (ATLAS, movable devices, magnet,) will be installed in rack Y4.02-03.A1 which is equipped with UPS. Electronics to be installed in rack next to it. No patch-panels required. LHCf: CIBU will be installed in USA15 rack Y.26-05.A1. Patch-panel required in Y4.02-03.A1. ALICE: CIBU ALICE will be installed in rack UX25/C28. Patch-panels required for Magnet, ALICE ZDC. CMS: all CIBUs will not be directly cabled but the connection from BIC will be terminated in patch- panels. The cabling between patch-panel and CIBU will be executed by CMS/Totem following the prescription from AB-CO. LHCb: all CIBUs will not be directly cabled but the connection from BIC will be terminated in patch-panels. The cabling between patch-panel and CIBU will be executed by LHCb following the prescription from AB-CO.

This cannot go in S1E03, but could find place in S1E09? The installation of these same fibres have been requested of TS-EL-OF by Sophie Baron (PH/ESS). [1] [1] TTC Fibres for CMS go directly via the Machine Tunnel from Point 4 to Point 5, they do not pass the CCC/R as for the others [2] [2] BST Fibres are two per ring [3] [3] Original arrangement between B. Puccio (AB/CO) and E. Sbrissa (PH/DT1) was that E. Sbrissa would install the correct cable between the BIC and his CIBU. E. Sbrissa is ok with someone doing it for him, however, and will supply the final rack location ASAP.
