Different parts of the sun There are plenty of parts to the sun, scientists made these parts so they can explore the sun in more detail this way they can learn more about the sun. *core *radiative zone *convective zone *photosphere *corona *chromosphere

 The sun plays an important role in life on Earth. The sun is about 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Its atmosphere is much hotter, reaching 2 million to 4 million degrees Fahrenheit. The sun has caused scientists to research more about the sun.

 The core is the source of all the Sun's energy. Fortunately for life on earth, the Sun's energy is just continual so we do not see much change in its brightness. The Sun's core is 15milllion degrees kelvin, and the material in the core is very tightly packed. It is a combination of these two properties that creates an environment just right for nuclear reactions to occur.

 The Moon is a cold, rocky body about 2,160 miles (3,476 km) in diameter. The Moon orbits Earth about once every 29 and a half days. As it circles our planet, the Sun causes our natural satellite to cycle through a series of phases:  New Moon, New Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous Last Quarter, Old Crescent New Moon.

 Did you know One million Earths could fit inside the Sun  Did you know Eventually, the Sun will consume the Earth  Did you know The Sun will one day be about the size of Earth  Did you know The Sun contains 99.86% of the mass in the Solar System  did you know The Sun travels at 220 kilometres per second

 On August 31, 1991, a satellite called Yohkoh was launched into space from the Kagoshima Space Centre in Southern Japan. This satellite was a project of the Japanese Institute of Space and Astronautical Science. The scientific goal was to observe the energetic phenomena taking place on the Sun.

 The Solar & Heliospheric Observatory project is a cooperative effort between the European Space Agency and NASA. SOHO was designed to study the inside of the Sun, its extensive outer layer and the origin of the solar wind, the stream of highly ionized gas that blows continuously outward through the Solar System.
