Overview April 21, 2011 - Deepwater Horizon Natural Resource Trustees announced $1 billion down payment for early restoration Louisiana first made the request July 2010 Largest early restoration agreement ever reached Provides an opportunity to implement restoration projects prior to the completion of the natural resource damage assessment (NRDA) process

Allocation of Funds $700M will be split equally among the state and federal trustees Each of the Gulf states will receive $100 million NOAA and DOI will receive $100 million $300M will be used to fund state sponsored restoration projects based upon impacts.

Timeline State trustees are currently accepting and evaluating restoration projects May 18 – Trustees meet to develop decision making framework June 1-3 – States begin submitting projects to Trustee Council for inclusion in early restoration plans

Early Restoration Plan Development In accordance with the Oil Pollution Act of 1990, applicable federal regulations and the framework agreement, the trustees will use the money to fund projects such as the: rebuilding of coastal marshes, replenishment of damaged beaches, conservation of sensitive areas and ocean habitat for injured fish and wildlife, and restoration of barrier islands and wetlands

Public Involvement We continue to accept project proposals through Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators website: http://losco-dwh.com Deepwater Horizon NRDA updates will continue to be provided during monthly Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority meetings Public commenting period prior to finalization of early restoration plans
