Conservation Biology 1. Conservation Biology The study and implementation of methods to protect biodiversity. Include species and natural resource conservation.

. a. Legal Protection of Species 1. US Endangered Species Act- made it illegal to harm species on endangered or threatened species list.

2. Preserving Habitats- National Parks and other protected regions.

3. Habitat Corridors- protected strips of land that allow for the migration of organisms from one wilderness area to another. (Baniff National Park- Canada)

4. Working with people- the philosophy of sustainable use strives to enable people to use natural resources in ways that will benefit them and the ecosystem.

6. Captivity- some plants and animals can no longer survive in the wild and must be held in captivity.

7. Protecting Plant Species- The ideal way to protect plants is to allow it to exist in it’s natural habitat, but plant seeds can be stored for the future.
