1 Welcome!  Please pick up and read the “Clues to Vitality” worksheet.  Of the 10, determine:  5 clues where you think your community is stronger.  5 clues where you think your community is weaker.  Sit wherever you are comfortable  Be ready, we will be starting on time

2 Objectives Understand some elements of community vitality and the strengths and weaknesses of yours Learn to Appreciate what is going right and how to build from that in your community to motivate involvement. Analyze involvement in your community and create strategies for improvement. CH 1 OH 1

3 How your community compares. Find a partner from a different community and share the similarities and differences of your assessment. (5 minutes)

5  Select and move to one clue area that you are particularly interested in for your community.  To yourself!! Think of some examples of things in your community that are going right related to that clue and citizen involvement.  Share your story with the others in your group.  You have 10 minutes – be sure to share the air!!  Be ready to quickly share ONE story from your group that you feel can be built upon to strengthen participation around this clue. (pick a specific person if you want)  Form a group with 1 or 2 other people from your clue who have chosen the same quadrant.  Together discuss  How does this person impact progress & people in your community around this clue to vitality?  What are their motivations/barriers?  Develop a strategy to transform this person’s involvement.
