Senator Markey: “The Independence at Home program is moving quality health care from emergency rooms to living rooms for our most vulnerable seniors. This pilot program extension will allow teams of doctors and nurses to continue to care for severely ill Medicare patients in the home, bringing the house calls of yesteryear into the 21st century.” ©AAHCM 3

Bipartisan agreement on the following: ◦ Insurers must accept enrollees with pre-existing conditions ◦ Insurers must cover dependents until age 26 ◦ Insurers should not set premiums based on health status ◦ Insurers should not be permitted to cap liability ◦ Insurers should not be allowed to rescind coverage (other than for non-payment of premiums) ©AAHCM 5
