Haiti is currently in a long lasting “depression” economy. It is one of the poorest countries in the world and continues to have a lot of violence and political upheaval throughout the country. The Haitians are trying to rebuild after the earthquakes in 2010 and have lots of support from other countries trying to help in the relief efforts.

Haitians value their work very highly. Good jobs are very hard to come by and Haitians are known for hard work once given a job, knowing how scarce they are throughout the country. Celebrations are a huge part of the Haitian traditions and remain a huge festivity!
