One advantage of a college educations is it enables you to be a well rounded person Academic Degree- is an award given to a person by a college or other school Associate degree takes 2 years Bachelor’s degree takes 4 years Master’s degree take 1-2 years after your bachelors

Highschool graduate- $30,400 Some college- $36,800 Associate’s degree- $38,200 Bachelor’s degree- $52,200 Master’s degree- $62,300 Doctoral degree-$89,400 Professional degree- $109,600

Two year schools Community college- offers academic or occupational programs, credits usually transfer to a 4 year college Proprietary school-privately owned institutions, offer various programs and degrees, check to see if these credits will transfer to a 4 year college

Trade schools- focus more on skills than academics, sometimes called vocational schools or career and technical colleges. Credits here usually don’t transfer to a 4 year college Most branches of the US Armed forces offer the chance to earn tuition ROTC(Reserve Officers’ Training Corps)- military program on many college campuses that provide leadership training for commissioned officers.

You’ll need to create a financial plan for paying for your education 529 plan- savings plan for education, generally operated by a state or college. You will be penalized if you use the money invested in 529 plan for anything other than education expenses

Grant- usually provided by a nonprofit organization (government) does not have to be repaid Scholarship- may be based on financial need or some other type of merit or accomplishment. Work study programs- usually part-time jobs on campus Need-based awards-available for some students, typically student must show financial needs

Lifelong learning- acquiring new skills and knowledge throughout your life Professional development- improving or gaining new skills related to work Mentor- is someone who has knowledge and skills and shares them with you Seminar- meeting or conference for exchanging ideas or learning new things
