2 Active Earth Volcanoes and Earthquakes
We are learning to Understand that the earths crust is split into plates. Know about the different types of plate margins.

3

4

5 Where are the earths plates?

6 Assess your work Bronze – I have produced a diagram of the vehicle with labels to show the features. Silver – I have completed a fully labelled diagram with annotations describing what the features of the vehicle do. Gold - I have produced a fully annotated diagrams with a description o what the features do as well as explanations relating to the earths structure to explain why the feature is needed.

7 Constructive Margins

8 Destructive Margin

9 Collision Margin

10 Conservative Margin

11 Active Earth Volcanoes and Earthquakes
By the end of the lesson I will; Know the distribution of Volcanoes and earthquakes on the earth Be able to give reasons for the distribution of volcanoes and earthquakes on the earth.

12 Where are the world’s volcanoes and earthquakes distributed?
Use the map on page 104 to help to answer the question.

13 The Structure of the Earth

14 Journey to the Earths core
Design a vehicle that could make the journey to the earths core to take some scientific measurements. You must annotate your design, that is fully label and explain each feature of your design.

15 What are these layers like?
Temperature State Depth Crust 1200 Solid 0 to 65 Mantle 5000 Solid but like plasticine 66 to 2900 Outer Core 5500 Liquid 2901 to 5100 Inner Core 5101 to 6370

16 Active Earth Volcanoes and Earthquakes
By the end of the lesson I will; Know about the 5 W’s of the Mount St. Helens eruption

17 5 W’s Where? When Why? Who? What?

18 5 W’s Where is Mount Saint Helens? When did the eruption take place?
Why did Mount St. Helens erupt? Who was affected by the eruption? What where the effects of the eruption?

19 Where is Mount Saint Helens?
Mount St. Helens is……(describe the location).

20 Why did Mount St. Helens erupt?
There are volcanoes occur in this area because… Mount St. Helens erupted because…

21 Who was affected by the eruption?

22 What where the effects of the eruption?
Short term – Straight away Long term – In the future.
