Define your goals Where do you incorporate E-Learning? Understand Objectives Where can technology deliver dramatic improvement? Identify the critical gaps
4
The Blended Learning Solution Individual Learning Content focus, some application and feedback if possible Live Event Skill application, feedback & discussion Post Event On Line Tools Plus possible additional learning
5
Blended Learning Example * Targeted our core leadership model for deeper learning/ job application * 3+ hrs of pre-work, assigned 4 weeks before class via KBC and 9 TH House * 5.5 hours of classroom application exercises * Online Toolkit after class + finishing 9 th House SLII Situational Leadership II (SLII)
6
Results So Far Lecture time in class is reduced to about 20 minutes in a 5.5 hour session. Student exposure to SLII concepts is lengthened by 55%. # Exposures to SLII content goes from 1 to at least 3, probably 5+. Students can build a detailed SLII model when class begins. Skill practice/feedback increases 100+%. Routinely positive feedback on 9 th House SLII.
7
Recommendations Minimize re-teaching in the classroom Have a back up plan for those who do not complete pre-work Develop a technical support plan Streamline registration and communication process
8
Recommendations Provide ample time for pre-work Set realistic time expectations for pre-work Don’t undershoot amount of pre-work: do what is required to see significant improvement in the classroom Set up a reminder system Add appropriate detail to student instructions
