DO NOW V: 0 Mon/Tues 11-16-15 to 11-17-15 1.Sketch the following graph on your DO NOW handout. 2.Compare the objects motion between points A and B and points B and C. A BC
2
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: How do we calculate and communicate the change in position, direction, and speed for moving objects? OBJECTIVE: Students will construct graphs showing changes in distance over time.
3
Agenda Today’s Agenda -Motion Detector Lab -Exit Ticket HomeworkSpeed, Velocity, Acceleration, Forces HW QUIZ ON WED/THURS over SPEED, VELOCITY, ACCELERATION, & GRAPHING SPEED.
4
Goal: Make the graph that is on your paper, appear on the screen. For Graph 1 CalculatorMotion Detector RecorderWalker Motion Detector Lab V: 0 **If there are only 3 in your group, the walker will also be the recorder.
5
On your post-it note: What should be included on a graph showing average speed? Exit Ticket V: 0 Name On a graph showing average speed and should be included.
6
DO NOW V: 0 Wed/Thurs 11/18 to 11/19 The graph below shows an object’s speed. (Distance vs Time) 1. Quickly sketch the graph below. 2. What is happening to the walker’s motion between points A and B? 3. Between which 2 points did the walker return to the starting point?
7
ESSENTIAL QUESTION: -How do we calculate and communicate the change in position, direction, and speed for moving objects? DAILY OBJECTIVE: Students will construct graphs showing changes in speed over time.

AGENDA V: 0 HomeworkSpeed, Velocity, Acceleration, and Forces HW Today’s Agenda - Quiz Review - Speed, Velocity, Acceleration, and Graphing Quiz - Graphing Acceleration: Terminator 2 Chase
9
Forces, Speed, Velocity, Acceleration Quiz Voice Level 0 Read quietly or work on missed work when finished. We will trade and grade when everyone is finished.

Graphing Acceleration: Terminator 2 Bike Evasion Objective: To gather data, present data in a graph, and analyze the journey of John Connor’s bike ride in Terminator 2. Copy title onto page 75 of your INB. Underneath the title, write the definition for acceleration. ACCELERATION: a change in speed over time Glue the data table down below the definition and glue the graph paper on pg 74.

Terminator 2 Bike Evasion Objective: To gather data, present data in a graph, and analyze the journey of John Connor’s bike ride in Terminator 2. Procedure: Start your stop watch the moment the boy’s bike starts up. Record the time on the stopwatch when the boy reaches each stage into the results table. Video clip

Convert all times to seconds. Plot results on a speed - time graph. Time goes on the x-axis; this is the independent variable. Speed goes on the y-axis (dependent axis). Label each point that John changes motion: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H and I. Point A is at time 0,speed 0. Pre-AP: Divide the area below the graph line into five triangles and 4 rectangles. Analyze Data

DO NOW V: 0 Friday 11/20/15 1.Sketch the following acceleration graph on your DO NOW handout. Speed (mi/hr) on y-axis and Time (sec) on x-axis. 2.Describe the speed of the object. (speeding up, slowing down, or constant speed) 3.How fast is the object traveling at 3 seconds?
17
ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS: How do we calculate and communicate the change in position, direction, and speed for moving objects? OBJECTIVE: Students will analyze speed vs time graphs.
