essential media law and regulation contempt, defamation, confidentiality, privacy, PCC code elements, anonymity for sex offence victims some basic knowledge of courts, legal terms, that restrictions exist for preliminary hearings, of postponement orders, no recording, filming or pictures in court knowledge of anonymity provision arising from other automatic restrictions (section 49) and court orders (section 39, section 11, section 46) but not grounds of challenge

essential media law and regulation broadcast regulation, as reflected in Ofcom Broadcasting Code primarily where there are requirements same as (examined) requirements of PCC code, or where Ofcom and PCC code relate to same (examined) areas of journalistic activity (though two codes may differ as regards requirements) i.e. Equivalences Defamation Act

media law: court reporting a more in depth knowledge than is provided in essential media law candidates needs some general knowledge of terms, court structure, etc. Ofcom element

what's changing with the introduction of ethics? no major change to exams ethics drawn out in PoS candidates to be rewarded through OVPs for ethical considerations

marking and moderation exams marked by centre-based tutors marks must be submitted to the NCTJ within 2 weeks of the exam moderated by NCTJ examiners moderation will be completed within 2 weeks unless there are issues to be addressed the NCTJ aim to issue confirmed results to centres within 4 weeks centres must distribute confirmed results to candidates
