Introduction The goal of our device is to lift a 1kg weight one meter above the ground in approximately ten seconds. The goal of our device is to lift a 1kg weight one meter above the ground in approximately ten seconds. The materials used in this design were two dumbbells, a mouse trap, and cut up two by fours. Overview of Device Design Our system is a lop sided seesaw-like beam that is being held down by a loaded mouse trap. Our system is a lop sided seesaw-like beam that is being held down by a loaded mouse trap. One end of the beam is tied to the 1kg weight, while the other is weighed down by two 5lb weights. One end of the beam is tied to the 1kg weight, while the other is weighed down by two 5lb weights. The loaded mouse trap holds down the side of the 1kg weight and, therefore, holding up the two 5lb weights. Overview of Device Design When the mouse trap is released, it allows the 5lb weights to pull the 1kg weight one meter above the ground using leverage. When the mouse trap is released, it allows the 5lb weights to pull the 1kg weight one meter above the ground using leverage. Once the seesaw has lifted the 1kg weight one meter, a string tied around the raised end of the beam and a loop on the base board prevents the beam from moving anymore. Summary of Stored Energy in Device The stored energy in our device is potential gravitational energy. The stored energy in our device is potential gravitational energy. All of the constructive stored energy lies in the two five pound weights. All of the constructive stored energy lies in the two five pound weights. The stored energy in the mouse trap is elastic potential energy. The stored energy in the mouse trap is elastic potential energy. This elastic potential energy causes the release of the constructive potential gravitational energy. This elastic potential energy causes the release of the constructive potential gravitational energy.

Conclusion The overall planning and construction of our device took approximately five hours. The overall planning and construction of our device took approximately five hours. The problems encountered while constructing this device: The problems encountered while constructing this device: Dimension wise it was too tall. Dimension wise it was too tall. After recutting, it didn’t elevate the weight one meter. After recutting, it didn’t elevate the weight one meter. Thus, we had to pull device apart and rearrange so all requirements were met.
