2 Facilities History Energy Management focus since the 1970’s Green Lights award in 1998 (T-8 lights) Xcel Energy’s ongoing rebates programs Y2K – upgrade of building controls systems Energy Star award to 3 building starting in 2000 Infrastructure CEF Budget – replace and upgrade mechanical systems with energy efficient equipment

3 ARRA & EECBG 2009: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provided the The U.S Department of Energy's Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program $3.2 billion of which $450,000 was allocated to Boulder County.

How do we reach the Goal Infrastructure Improvements –Jail Central Plant Upgrades –JC Air handler replacement –Windows? –Small equipment improvements (higher efficiency pumps, motors) Operational Efficiencies –Andover Controls –LEED EB guidelines More Renewable Energy –Thermal Solar, Biomass, PV

8 What is LEED? Nationally recognized Third party verification that a building is “Green” LEED EB (Existing Buildings) is a Rating System focuses on actual building operations Annex achieved LEED-EB Gold in 2008
