Main points – each highly expandable ▪ We do all kinds of festivals. This environment means a bunch of adjustments to exactly how our outreach activities work. Ask us questions about this if you're interesting in trying something like festival work. ▪ Our goal is not so much to teach linguistics. Guided by "Six Strands of Learning" (National Academies), we aim to spark interest in the discipline. We design activities and materials so festival goers will have fun while sampling ways that language can be studied scientifically.

▪ Tools and Tips Panel: We will focus on both external connections (e.g., finding and joining festivals) and internal connections (e.g., soliciting and training volunteers). We will also refer to resources from fields that are far ahead of linguistics. We will also address how such activities can be adjusted for different ages, levels of interest or knowledge, native languages, and amounts of time.
