3. What is ATP? ATP stands for Adenosine triphosphate.
It is the biological energy found in all living cells.
ATP is used as an indicator for cleanliness.
Light output is measured by reader in Relative Light Units (RLU’s).
ATP on a surface = cleanliness of a surface.

Bacteria, yeast and molds; pathogens: Listeria, E. coli, Salmonella.
The cleaner the surface, the less likely it is contaminated with spoilage organism or pathogens.

As you can see from the illustration, the AccuPoint sampler was better able to access the corners. The typical Q-tip type swab left a white gap between the blue lines where it was not able to access because of its rounded tip. You can also see how much better and more consistent the sample coverage is with the AccuPoint sampler. Imagine trying to recreate the Q-tip type swab’s coverage tomorrow. And, if you don’t take the same sample each time, you won’t get consistent readings.
