JURASSIC PERIOD LOTS OF FACTS AND INFORMATION ABPOUT THE SECOND PERIOD OF THE MESSOZOIC (DINOSAUR) ERA

LANDSCAPE At the beginning of the Jurassic earth’s continents were still together, but they beginning to gradually drift apart.

CLIMATE When such climate change occurs abruptly–either in the form of a global warming or cooling-animals and plants have no time to adapt so mass extinctions can occur.

OTHER ANIMALS Crocodiles, snakes and lizards lived as well as dinosaurs. The Archaeopteryx, the first, primitive, dino-like bird appeared about 150 million years ago, towards the end of the Jurassic period.

PLANTS AND VEGETATION Ferns and gingkoes lived in the Jurassic period. True flowering plants didn’t evolve until the period after that called the Cretaceous, which still evolved dinosaurs but that was the last of them!

NEW BREED OF DINO A new dino species was discovered in Wales dating back 200 million years to the earliest Jurassic period. The fossilised skeletons of the dog-sized creature, Theropod dino is described as a cousin of the giant T-rex (the king of dinosaurs). The skeleton was discovered in the vale of Glamorgan.

APATOSAURUS The Apatosaurus is small headed and has spatulated shaped teeth looked like. It ate plants and so it was called a herbivore, also it was among the largest land animals! Brontosaurus walked on four legs.

COMPSOGNATHUS It was from 28 inches-4.6 feet long also it had a small, pointed head and sharp teeth. It was a carnivore and was very fierce.

THE END OF THE JURASSIC PERIOD
The Jurassic also ended with an extinction, but it was not as extensive as the one in the Triassic period . Only a few types of dinosaurs died out.
