Born a slave in 1818 His mother was a slave in Maryland never saw is father His grandma had to look over 12 children the children were mostly his family

He didn't like slavery Slavery separated his family from him He became friends with his masters His master was never unkind to him He was going to Baltimore with his masters His masters bought him clothes for the trip They took a ship their The Aldus greeted him at the door Soon they knew each other well When he was six year old Mrs. Auld was teaching him He leaned after one day Mr. Auld was crying He met friends and they were nice to him He found a spelling book outside in the trash He had to hide from his master He made money for shinning shoes When he was a teen he worked at a shipyard He tried to escape but he was beat and whipped He fought back and won Abraham wanted to talk to him about his newspaper the north star He continued to give speeches all over the country

1818- born in Maryland 1824-went on a ship to live with the Aulds 1833- started a school for African Americans 1840s and the 1850s-escaped from slavery and gave speeches around the country 1877-went to district Columbia for the marshal 1881- records of dead in Colombia 1889-went to Haiti to post for of marshal 1895-he died
