Tim - Within SPDC and indeed within SHELL Gas & Power there is a Requirement to complete certain key activities relates to planning. This planning more importantly is what is termed the Hazard & Effects Management Process, you may have heard of HEMP. The activities are included in a set sequence which follows the course of the Project namely: Concept & Detailed Design and following this we have Construction. At this stage we are required to ensure that we have all the hazards identified and more importantly controls to manage the risk to People/Assets/Environment and Reputation. This is what we will do over the next 1 to 2 days. This is to be ASSURED that HSE objectives are being met in the construction phase.
Brian – We have seen in the early part of the preparation works that we have not been totally prepared for the activities in terms of HSE. We have witnessed a number of near misses. This is a signal that we have to be more professional in our approach to the daily activities. Above all it demonstrates how we need to plan for the up and coming construction activities beyond that of piling…….
