How to begin using the microscope: Always begin on low power, place your slide on the stage so that the specimen is over the opening for the light. Use coarse adjustment (big knob) to find your specimen. NEVER USE Coarse Objective lens in High Power!!!!

Making a Wet Mount Slide 1. Place specimen on center of slide. 2. Using a dropper, place 1 drop of water on top of specimen. 3. Carefully place the cover slip at an angle on top of specimen.

Slowly lower the cover slip on top of the drop. Cover Slip Lower slowly

How to make microscope drawings: Use pencil only. Print labels clearly, use a ruler to draw lines. Color if appropriate, shade to show structures.

How to clean-up: Turn off. Move lens to low power, move the stage to its lowest position. Clean your slide according to teacher’s directions. Clean up your area, return to your seat, and work on lab.
