Margit Aarna2 Labs Simple programs Composing algorithms Slightly more difficult programs Language of choice: C Prior experience is not needed, but can be useful at times

Margit Aarna3 Requirements in labs It’s recommended that You use the machine provided, but Your own tech is not forbidden and can also be used Upload the home tasks to where You can easily access and present it to us, if given.

Margit Aarna4 Software We´ll be using Geany to write code and ArgoUML to sketch algorithms. Since the coding environment may need a little more tinkering to set up, the guides are provided. Alternatives also available, but not recommended.

Margit Aarna5 Lab tasks The tasks given are generally personal – creating something yourself is the best way to learn and for us prepare for what's to come. The labs are all-you-can-ask A few pop quizzes may appear here and there Materials are generally allowed, also in quizzes.

Margit Aarna6 Home tasks You´ll get a small home task every week The tasks will be similar to the ones given in lab or are to prepare for the topics or quizzes of the next lab(s) Extra points may be given for home tasks

Margit Aarna7 Prerequisites... I want to learn to code collaboration don’t be afraid to ask no question you can think of is dumb or irrelevant always make an effort to finish what you’ve started.....

Margit Aarna8 To get a grade, you need to do.... all of your labs (40p).... small pop quizes.... all of your homeworks (2*15p).... 2 tests in lecture (2*15p) All of this and more will form your grade

Points in labs may be given for finishing tasks given doing homework pop quizzes creative solutions participation etc Margit Aarna9

10 Your grade Grade will be based on points gathered: 50 … 59-1 60 … 69-2 70 … 79-3 80 … 89-4 90...-5

Lab materials blue.pri.ee/ttu Everything needed can be found there and will be regularly updated, including notices. Check frequently. Margit Aarna11

How to access your things: Always save your files on the P: partition – it’s cloud based and can be accessed from afar. It may also be a good idea to backup your work otherwise (USB, e-mail, cloud storage, GIT etc.) Work done locally will be wiped away (e.g. on desktop) Margit Aarna12
