1 TRASHKETBALL Probability

2 RULES Every member of your group must have a turn answering & shooting before you may go again. I will call upon the member of your group when it is your group’s turn. You have 45 seconds to answer the question you choose. Each question is worth a different number of points. Correct answers earn your team the ability to take points away from any team of your choosing. You also have the option of shooting from the 1-, 2-, or 3-point line into the trashketball goal to earn extra points for your own team. Incorrect answers result in your team losing that many points

3 What is the probability of choosing a green marble from a jar containing 5 red, 6 green and 4 blue marbles?

4 A jar contains 5 red, 6 green and 4 blue marbles
A jar contains 5 red, 6 green and 4 blue marbles. What is the probability of choosing a marble that is not blue?

5 What is the probability of choosing the letter “i” from the word

6 marble. Two marbles are drawn at random without replacement. Find the
A box contains 2 red marbles, 3 white marbles, 4 green marbles and 1 blue marble. Two marbles are drawn at random without replacement. Find the probability of: Selecting a green marble on the second draw if the first marble is blue.

7 A type of sampling in which objects in a population are selected according to a pattern is called ______________________

8 When the outcome of one event does not affect the other

9 A number smaller than 30 is randomly chosen
A number smaller than 30 is randomly chosen. Find the probability of choosing a factor of 18.

10 A box contains 2 red marbles, 3 white marbles, 4 green marbles and 1 blue
marble. Two marbles are drawn at random without replacement. Find the probability of: Selecting a red marbles on both draws.

11 A type of sampling in which each object in the population has an equal chance of being chosen is called ________________

12 All other outcomes besides the favorable one

13 A number smaller than 20 is randomly chosen
A number smaller than 20 is randomly chosen. Find the probability of choosing an even number or a 7.

14 Find P(red | even number)
You roll a die. If it lands on an even number, you take a ball from Bin 1. If it lands on an odd number, you take a ball from Bin 2. Find P(red | even number) Bin 1 Bin 2

15 Find P(blue | odd number)
You roll a die. If it lands on an even number, you take a ball from Bin 1. If it lands on an odd number, you take a ball from Bin 2. Find P(blue | odd number) Bin 1 Bin 2

16 You flip three coins (a penny, nickel, and dime)
You flip three coins (a penny, nickel, and dime). How many possible outcomes are there? What are the possible outcomes?

17 You flip three coins (a penny, nickel, and dime)
You flip three coins (a penny, nickel, and dime). What are the ODDS that all coins show tails?

18 A type of sampling in which the population is first divided by a characteristic, then samples are taken from each of those groups is called _____________________

19 Two events that cannot possibly occur at the same time are said to be _________________

20 A garden has 5 purple flowers, 4 blue flowers, and 7 white flowers
A garden has 5 purple flowers, 4 blue flowers, and 7 white flowers. Lauren picks one, and later her sister also picks one. Are these events independent or dependent?

21 (# of times it occurs / # of trials)
In this type of probability, experimental data is used to estimate probability (# of times it occurs / # of trials)

22 Any group of objects being studied is called ________

23 A subset (smaller portion) of a population is called __________

24 The chart gives an inventory of pants at a store
The chart gives an inventory of pants at a store. If you choose a pair, what is the probability that the pair will be: Jeans and small? Small Large Jeans 13 8 Black 9 11 Khaki 5

25 In this type of probability, outcomes of events are predicted
(# of favorable / total # possible)

26 A café serves 5 types of soup, 3 types of salad, and 4 choices of salad dressing. How many different orders of soup and salad (including dressing) are possible?

27 The outcome of the first event affects the outcome of the second

28 The chart gives an inventory of pants at a store
The chart gives an inventory of pants at a store. If you choose a pair, what is the probability that the pair will be: Black and large? Large and not khaki? Small Large Jeans 13 8 Black 9 11 Khaki 5
