Registering for the Walking Challenge: Sooners Walking for Wellness 2013!

Get registered for the Sooners Walking for Wellness Walking Challenge! This is a 12 -week challenge starting Monday, September 9 and ending Saturday, November 30. All participants must be registered by noon Friday, September 6. Registration instructions are in the following slides. Walking is a simple, low-impact exercise for everyone! It can improve your mood, lower your blood pressure, and manage your weight. It can be done anywhere and everywhere! Each participant records their time in minutes spent walking for exercise each day. The employee who accumulates the most minutes walked after 12 weeks wins the Grand Prize! All participants receive a Healthy Sooners sports bottle. Get registered, get moving, & feel better!! Questions? When logged into the Magellan site, select the “Magellan Healthyroads” tab found in the middle of the page and click “Begin”

A device will not be used for this competition so we will need to log minutes manually Select the “My Programs” tab towards the top of the page Choose “Connected!” and then “Getting Started” Log Your Minutes Manually! First, set up how you will record your time

Skip! Done! Follow the setup steps and select “skip” when asked to register a device or install software Set your daily goals of your choice in the setup process and then select “done” when you have completed the steps

After you finish with “Connected!” under “My Programs,” choose the “Competitions” tab towards the top of the page

Then, select the Public Competition, “Sooners Walking for Wellness Challenge 2013” Select “Actiped” under associated tracker to record minutes walked

Choose “Add an Entry” and record date, time, and walking for your activity, then submit! Submit! Remember to enter your time everyday and have fun!

Record how your fitness has developed over the next 12 weeks! What you will need… one mile of flat terrain a stopwatch or timer with minutes and seconds comfortable clothes and shoes Start the challenge with a 1 mile walk test… → on a flat surface, walk 1 mile as briskly as possible → record the time it took you in minutes and seconds At the end of the 12-week challenge, perform the same 1 mile walk test walking as briskly as possible and record time. See how your fitness has improved! Extra Credit!!
