2. Brainstorm Your Perfect Monster/Mythical Creature
Write down as many features/characteristics/abilities of mythical creatures as you can think of
For example wings…multiple heads…covetous… tricksy…swamp-dweller…fire-breathing…shape-shifting
Does it have a fatal weakness? Virgins? Gold? Your Pillow?!
Consider: Dragons…Your movie posters…Creatures from fiction and movies…Greek mythology…that thing that hides under your bed...

3. Make a Creature… Design your own mythical creature.
It must contain at least 6 characteristics of other mythical creatures.
Example: multiple heads, fur, shape shifting abilities, etc.
Either sketch or describe your creature
Physical appearance
Habitat
Disposition

4. Make a Creature… Build your creature 3 dimensional
Each of the 6 characteristics must be apparent in the model or the accompanying story.
Any materials you want
Use found/recycled materials when possible.
Sculpt, sew, hot glue, whatever…
Create and type up a “myth” to go with your creature ( words).

5. Grading and Presentation
100 pts
Performance Task Assessment (40%)
3D Creature/Monster is due on January 4th.
Be prepared to present your creation and storyline.

6. Monday, January 4th
Clear your desk of everything except your creature and your printed story (bring three copies to share with others).
Prepare a 1-minute introduction to your creature that demonstrates all 6 of its characteristics.

7. Gallery Walk View the creatures up close (treat them gently!)
Read the stories for the creatures you are most interested in (at least 4).
Leave post-it note comments for at least 4 of the creatures
