16 Environmental Initiatives 2005 Walmart announced it would implement several environmental measures to increase energy efficiency $500 million a year to increase fuel efficiency in Wal-Mart ’ s truck fleet by 25% over 3 years and double it within 10,  greenhouse gas emissions by 20% in 7 years,  energy use at stores by 30%, and  solid waste from U.S. stores and Sam ’ s Clubs by 25% in 3 years.
