“Early College/Career Awareness” Initiative (Pre K-8) Raise awareness among Elementary and Middle School students about college pathways Introduce students and parents to college career and professional pathways Familiarize students and parents with cost and benefits of college participation Help students access their career goals and interests Assist students as they create a personalized “Road to College”

“Early College Experience” Initiative (Grades 9-12) Give every LAUSD student the chance to take college courses and earn college credit or credit towards a career/technical certificate while in grades 9-12 Give students personal experience of academic standards associated with college-level work Offer students the opportunity to experience post- secondary college study and workforce training programs Help students develop critical study skills required for success in higher education

“LA College Connections” Initiative (Grades 11-12) Aims to provide admission and other matriculation services to all LAUSD 12 th graders Provide students in 11 th grade an overview of the college admissions process Inform students about the costs of attending college and help navigate the financial aid application process Guarantee all LAUSD seniors have the opportunity to admission to a LACCD college Offer assessment, placement, college planning and registration services to all LAUSD seniors

Proposed Partnership Activity Timeline Local Planning Jun –Oct 2008 Local Partnership Action Teams meet monthly to frame local goals, outcomes measures, action plans and timeliness LPATs offer periodic progress reports to LAUSD and LACC Boards District staff frame district-to-district Memorandum of Understanding Nov 2008 "Local Partnership Actions Plans" & MOU presented to Boards in joint session for ratification Phase IILocal Partnership Pilots Jan. 2008 - Jun 2010 Colleges and schools implement pilot program activities as specified in local action plans LPATs continue to meet on a monthly basis to oversee implementation and gather and access outcomes data LPATs continue to offer Boards period updates on pilot program progress Jul 2010 LPATs offer Boards a formal "Partnership Assessment" with pilot outcomes and new action plans Initial Board Report Jun 2008 Update to LAUSD and LACCD Board on "Partnership Proposals" goals, action plans, next steps and timeline Phase IIIProgram Expansion Sep 2010-Jun 2012Partnership program activities are expanded to all LAUSD middle and high schools LPATs continue to meet monthly to oversee implementation and gather and assess outcome data
