Current situation in Lithuania  Lithuania produces 14% (2006) of heat and 3,61% (2005) of electricity from renewable energy sources – EU targets still to be reached  Constantly and fast growing prices for imported natural gas fuel from Russia  No planning of biomass fuel production neither on national, nor on regional level  Lack of information and methodological background for defining regional potentials, especially in forestry management sector  The “fight” for available resources among energy, food and wood processing sectors
