2.  Download xampp software package from:  http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp- windows.html http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp- windows.html (see the heading “XAMPP for Windows 1.7.3, 2009/12/23 ” Basic Package. The file link is labeled “EXE” and 51 MB Self-extracting RAR archive  Remember the location on hard drive where it is stored

3.  Double Click the downloaded xampp-win32- 1.7.3.exe file  Accept all defaults – don’t change directory  It should create a program group in a All Programs named “Apache Friends”  There should a link under it called “XAMPP Control Panel”  There is a directory, xampp, under C drive (see the bottom from Windows Explorer)

5.  Form All Programs  Apache Friends, click Xampp Control Panel  Click once on Start button in front of Apache and then of MySql.  You should see two green labels “Running”

7.  Open a IE or Firefox browser window  Enter address:  http://localhosthttp://localhost  You should see a Welcome Screen for XAMPP

12.  Create a subdirectory named ‘virtuemart’ under C:\xampp\htdocs  Copy the virtuemart bundle file, VirtueMart_1.1.4_eCommerce_Bunde_Joomla_ 1.5.14.tgz, into the new ‘virtuemart’ folder  Unzip the virtuemart bundle file ‘VirtueMart_1.1.4_eCommerce_Bunde_Joomla _1.5.14.tgz’ into this new ‘virtuemart’ subfolder 

16.  Enter : ◦ http://localhost/virtuemart ◦ Select en_US English ◦ Click Next ◦ Pre-Installation Checks should be all Yes ◦ Click Next ◦ Click Next again to accept the License terms
