Mean, Median, Mode, and Range

Mean You find the mean of a sequence of numbers by finding the average. To do that you add all of the numbers together, then divide by how many numbers there are. Example: Answer: 61/5 = 12.2

Median The median of a sequence of numbers is the number that falls in the middle, after they are put in numerical order. If there is an uneven amount of numbers, you take the two numbers that are in the middle and divide them by 2 to get the median. Example: Answer: 28 Example: Answer: =80 80/2 = 40

Mode In a sequence of numbers the mode is the number that shows up the most. If there are only one of each number, there is no mode. Example: Answer: 2

Range To find the range of a sequence of numbers you take the lowest number and subtract it from the highest number. Example: Answer: 61
