RUSSELL MEMORIAL Fasting Calendar January 2016 Consecration Making sacred; dedicating to the service and worship of God; separated from a common use to a sacred one. Metaphorically meaning perfect although not faultless, but bringing to a state of completion and fulfillment; to renew, to complete mature, reaching the intended goal; to finish a work or duty. Biblical Foundation of Fasting “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, To undo the heavy burdens, To let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6). Preparation for Fasting Pray FIRST! ●Confess every sin that the Holy Spirit calls to your remembrance and accept God’s forgiveness (1 John 1:9). ●Seek forgiveness from all whom you have offended, and forgive all who have hurt you (mark 11:25; Luke 11:4; 17:3-4). ●Surrender your life fully to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Master, refuse to obey your worldly nature (Romans 12:1-2). ●Meditate on the attributes of God, His love, sovereignty, power, wisdom, faithfulness, grace, compassion, and others (Psalm 48:9-10; 103:1-8, 11-13). ●Begin your time of fasting and prayer with an expectant heart (Hebrews 11:6). ●Do not underestimate spiritual opposition. Satan sometimes intensifies the natural battle between body and spirit (Galatians 5:16-17). The Church is praying ALL ARE WELCOME Wednesday: 12:00 p.m. & 6:00 p.m. (Bible Study) Sunday School – 9:00 a.m. Morning Worship – 10:00 a.m. Will you join us as we start 2016 with a Consecration Fasting Fasting releases the power of the Holy Spirit for the miraculous (Luke 4:14, 18) Fasting brings enlargement and deliverance (Esther 4:14-16) Fasting breaks the mountain of sickness and infirmity and release healing (Isaiah 58:5-6, 8) Fasting results in answered prayer (Isaiah 58:9 Fasting releases divine guidance (Isaiah 58:11) Fasting breaks generational mountains and cures (Isaiah 58:12) Fasting closes the breaches and brings forth restoration (Isaiah 58:123) Fasting causes you to have victory against overwhelming odds (2 Chron. 20:3) Fasting prepares the way for you and your children and delivers you from enemies that lie in wait (Ezra 8:21, 31) Fasting causes us to become more fruitful (Joel 2:22) Fasting breaks the mountains of fear and releases great things (Joel 2:21) Final Day of the Fast So many individuals complete the fast successfully and then do damage to their physical temples by breaking the fast incorrectly. In breaking the fast, please do not eagerly seek to eat every type of food that was sacrificed during the fast one minute past midnight on the final day of the fast. Because your body has been through a transition, it is important to slowly break the body in. It is suggested that the individual increase the intake of food that are on the suggested guideline. Continue to drink plenty of liquids; water is highly recommended. It is suggested that after you feel your body has adjusted, begin to incorporate items back into your healthy diet. PLEASE READ ONE CHAPTER OF PROVERBS, PRAY THE LORD’S AND CITE THE 23 RD PSALMS EACH DAY! SHALOM!!!
