A Decade of Making Right to Education Real Authored by YOU & ME
2
When a group of committed volunteers came together, we thought We had all the right answers to make Govt. schools, the schools of our dreams.
3
Armed with solutions, we stormed the schools to bring about desired change..
4
Soon we realized that our solutions and tools were inadequate in addressing the complex issues plaguing Government schools
5
And we would need to figure out new ways and means in making the right to equity and quality in education a reality in schools..
6
When in doubt… we went back to our sourcing principle … ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world, indeed it is the only thing that ever has’ - Margaret Mead
7
How did that help ?
8
We looked afresh at our engagement, enrolment strategy and our approach
9
We moved to a hybrid model of volunteers and employees that looked at schools in a holistic manner. Enrolled parents into the journey Initiated intensive supplementary and complementary learning programmes
10
Thus evolved the Holistic School Development Programme – HSDP Participative School development and management Learning level enhancement Community engagement
11
As a result, we started experiencing significant change at our schools And then came another question : What happens after standard 7 ? Most Signifi cant Chang e
12
Continuity and transition to high school was a challenge for many children This compelled a paradigm shift in our thinking - SCHOOL CHOICE and continuous handholding was the answer
13
Thus evolved Head Start School choice Financial support Academic coaching Mentoring Leadership skills Parenting engagements
14
Soon we felt the need for a space to engage with HeadStart students. This led to the creation of our community based Education & Development centres. Students thronged the centres where meaningful engagement and collective community action thrived like never before
15
Intangible became tangible Impact was evident and measurable Numbers became meaningful Students academic performance and development were breakthrough
16
Proud parents, motivated students and thrilled partners inspired us to handhold them further.. THUS EVOLVED TEN PLUS !!
17
TEN PLUS College / Institution choice Financial support One-to-one Mentoring Academic coaching Leadership skills Computers Library
18
Meanwhile young mothers and sisters of our students approached us for support They needed skills that provide decent livelihood options. This was beginning of the CEP – Community Empowerment Programme
19
Conscious and consistent engagement helped ingrain in our DNA the pulse, mood, emotions and feelings of the community we work with. This led us to our current IEDP model – Integrated Education and Development Programme
20
Our Model: Integrated Education and Development (IED)
21
Today we work with: 30 Government schools 400 students under HeadStart 510 students continue their higher education through Ten Plus Hundreds of parent and community engagements All this was accomplished because of dedicated volunteers, staff and supportive donors. 30 40 0 51 0 100++

Each one of you made this journey worthwhile and possible.. “Commitment is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions and the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making the time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year. Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism”. This sums up our TEN YEAR journey so far..
