Touch Screen Fuel Operation
In our first module last week, we programmed the fuel buttons on the touch screen via the Fuel Panel in Sapphire Management Suite (SMS). This was where we programmed the number of rows and columns that would be displayed on the touch screen for the fuel panel only. The fuel panel is located on the top of the touch screen in the picture to the left VeriFone Confidential

Each Fuel Point has its own identifying number on the touch screen that makes it unique from all the others. Each Fueling Point has the ability to display multiple icons that will help identify what exactly that Fuel Point is doing at any particular point in time. VeriFone Confidential

Idle Pump A blank button with no icons means that the pump is IDLE. VeriFone Confidential

Merchandise Sales Manual Fuel Sale MANUAL FUEL SALE STEPS (Credit refund used in example) 1. KEY the fuel sale price, including any taxes due 2. TOUCH the Manual Fuel button or PRESS [MANUAL FUEL] on the keyboard then the MOP PRESS the arrow key until the name of the correct fuel product appears or simply touch the product name on the screen 4. Reports The Reporting Menu is accessed via the Main Menu > Reporting Menu. This menu pops up when you first log in or you can also access it through the CSR Function button while in Sales. VeriFone Confidential

Reports Once you select the Reporting Menu, you have all the options that you would normally expect of a 3- Shift Configuration. Cashier. Shift, Daily, Monthly, and Yearly options. Also Flash Reports and Payroll Reports are available in the Reporting Menu. VeriFone Confidential

Reports Close Shift Steps Use these steps to close a shift and reset totals for the period to zero. Touch Close Shift and the screen to the left pops up. Touch YES. ***Note: These steps assume the following: ■ You will process the report. ■ You will print the report (if you choose to) now or later VeriFone Confidential

Reports The Cashiers will close next as is shown in the screen shot to the left. Ruby has the Force Close Cashier option in Report Config, but Topaz is not configurable through the Topaz. Cashiers are closed with Topaz by default and you can configure otherwise only if SMS was loaded with Report Configuration as a custom option. VeriFone Confidential

Reports The data will then be saved in the system on Newpro for polling to back office PC, SMS, or printing. VeriFone Confidential

Reports After completing the close successfully, the shift will now appear in the reprint list. You can access the report to print in the Print Shift Report option. In order to print the report, simply touch report on the touch screen or key the report # and ENTER. You can arrow to the report you want if necessary. VeriFone Confidential

Reports The Flash Reports menu does not have as many options as Ruby. The options available are listed in the screen shot to the left. VeriFone Confidential

Reports Issues Task/Problem: NewPro (Topaz) and GemPro (Ruby) Totals don't Match Method/Solution: There may be times when totals sent to the backoffice from NewPro don't match the totals on GemPro. Should this be the case, the Sapphire needs to be configured so that the backoffice will pull the totals from GemPro. ***Note that this is only the case at site with Ruby/Sapphire, and should NOT be attempted at a Topaz site. In order to pull totals from Gempro, rubylink.ini needs to be modified. As shown below, the TotalsRcvdFromSapphire flag needs to =False. Again, only make this modification at a Ruby site. Reports Issues Part of the reason that the totals don’t match is the fact the Gempro and Newpro have to “sync”. So if the site has a Ruby and a Topaz, the site should wait approximately 20 minutes prior to polling totals the back office or SMS VeriFone Confidential

Scanners There is a multitude of manufacturers of scanners that can attach to the Topaz POS. Scanners allow faster input of PLUs and can also be used to scan Driver’s Licenses if they are 2-D capable for ID checking VeriFone Confidential

Printers There are two Thermal Printer that attach to the Topaz POS. The top printer is the Partner RP-310 and the bottom is the Epson TM88II. They both must have the dip switches set as shown below or they will NOT communicate with the Topaz. VeriFone Confidential

Pole Display The customer pole display is a 4-line display and is connected to port 3 of the Topaz by default. ***Don’t forget the ceramic magnets that are on the cable before each of the RJ-45 connectors. The end of the cable with the shortest distance between that magnet and the RJ-45 connector must be connected to the display. If it is not, they display will display bogus characters. PIN Pads There are a multitude PIN Pad options that can attach to the Topaz. Shown to the left are: PIN Pad 1000 Mx870 SC5000 PIN Pad 1000se ***Note: PIN Pads with card slides on them MUST be enabled in the Network Menu in order to function properly. VeriFone Confidential

PIN Pads Inside the Maintenance Menu > PIN Pad Configuration menu is where the option is to enable the card slide on the pin pads. VeriFone Confidential

PIN Pads The Topaz also will know that there is a PIN Pad attached by auto detecting the pin pad, but it will not know which type of pin pad is attached to it. Inside Maintenance > Device Configuration is where you tell the Topaz what type of PIN Pad it is paired with. VeriFone Confidential

PIN Pads The options available are PIN Pad 1000, SC5000, Everest, and PIN Pad Mx870 has a Hybrid patch that selects PIN Pad 7000. VeriFone Confidential
