The state of lecture capture at UMKC Tegrity in use since 2008 Nearly 3,000 courses Over 10,000 recordings Committee to evaluate new lecture capture system looked at four products: Echo 360, Kaltura, Panopto, and Tegrity Criteria for evaluation included price, feature set, and customer support, among others

Why did UMKC choose Panopto? Robust feature set, including Drop box feature allows students to submit recordings Recordings can be edited after they are complete On-the-fly switching of video sources Compatible with many formats – can be used on Windows, Mac, mobile devices and with a wide variety of cameras and microphones Integration with UMKC’s LMS platforms – Blackboard and Moodle

The Pilot Phase Over the next six months we will prepare our environment to phase out Tegrity and begin using Panopto. Our current plan: Target date for Tegrity end-of-life: June 30 th, 2016 Both Tegrity and Panopto will be available for spring 2016 semester Older Tegrity content (prior to July 1 st, 2015) will be converted in the next two months Tegrity content created after March 31 st, 2016 will not be imported into Panopto All remaining content created prior to March 31 st, 2016 expected to be imported prior to Tegrity end-of-life date

Next Steps There is still much to do! In the next six months, we will… Deploy Panopto to all UMKC classroom computers Complete configuration of Panopto in LMS environments Develop end-user documentation for instructors and students Develop internal support documentation for support staff Develop and conduct training sessions for instructors Communicate, communicate, communicate!
