The Bracke Planter is capable of planting through light brash at the recommended stocking density of 2700 trees per ha but is not designed to treat heavy brash.
Insecticide treatment is possible
Tracked and wheeled base units have both been used successfully.
Ground preparation and harvesting operators have sufficient skills to operate the planter effectively but will only achieve high output if they have a high level of skill and motivation.
Even at higher outputs the unit cost of restocking is only just comparable with manual planting. Although not yet cost effective it is on right lines and it may become viable in future.
