2 ETHOS, PATHOS, LOGOS  Ethos – ethical appeal, means to convince an audience of the author’s credibility or character.  choosing language that is appropriate for the audience and topic  making yourself sound fair or unbiased  introducing your expertise or pedigree  Pathos – emotional appeal, means to persuade an audience by appealing to their emotions.  using meaningful language,  emotional tone, emotion evoking examples, stories of emotional events  implied meanings.

3  Logos – appeal to logic, means to convince an audience by use of logic or reason.  using advanced, theoretical or abstract language  citing facts (very important)  using historical and literal analogies  For each scenario, write a statement or two of advertisement to convince the consumer to purchase, based on the category of persuasion that is listed.
