Presentation on theme: "Vocabulary Acrostics After your test, come to me and pick a number Write an acrostic using your assigned vocabulary word: satire, genre, articulate, paraphrase,"— Presentation transcript:

Vocabulary Acrostics After your test, come to me and pick a number Write an acrostic using your assigned vocabulary word: satire, genre, articulate, paraphrase, script The acrostic should not only use the letters in the word, but also relate to the definition of the word Each line can (and probably should) be longer than one word (ESPECIALLY if you have one of the shorter words like genre, script, or satire)

Example using the word “structure” Supporting your ideas with Textual evidence in all the Right places will ensure that Ur essay is Crafted in a way That allows readers to Understand the Relationship between your ideas and the Evidence you provided

Then, on the back… Write a short paragraph (about 4 sentences) that clearly explains how your acrostic helps define/relates to the definition of your word. EX: I used the word structure, which is the organization/arrangement of parts in something. My acrostic discusses the arrangement of ideas in an essay. It explains how evidence supports ideas, in the same way that beams would support the structure of a building. The stronger the structure of your essay is, the easier it will be for readers to understand and access your ideas.

Due Thurs, 10/29 Decorate the front of your paper with the acrostic on it Make sure your name and paragraph are both on the back of your paper
