Areas of Study  Algebra and structure  Linear relations and equations  Arithmetic and number  Computation and practical arithmetic  Financial arithmetic  Discrete mathematics  Matrices  Graphs and networks  Number patterns and recursion

Areas of Study (cont.)  Geometry, measurement and trigonometry  Shape and measurement  Applications of trigonometry  Graphs of linear and non-linear relations  Linear graphs and models  Inequalities and linear programming  Variation  Statistics  Investigating and comparing data distribution  Investigating relationships between two numerical variables

UNIT 1 In Unit 1, we cover 4 topics from 4 chapters: 1) Chapter 1 - Computation and Practical Arithmetic 2) Chapter 2 – Investigating and Comparing Data Distributions 3) Chapter 3 - Linear Relations and Equations 4) Chapter 8 – Number Patterns and Recursion

Assessments  Topic Test  Application Tasks  Mid-Year Exams x 2  End-of-Year Exams x 2

Outcomes Outcome 1: Students should be able to define and explain key concepts, in relation to topics from the selected areas of study, and apply a range of related mathematical routines and procedures. Assessments: Assignments, tests, summary or review notes

Outcomes Outcome 2: Students should be able to apply mathematical processes in non-routine contexts and analyse and discuss these applications of mathematics in at least three of the areas of study. Assessments: Short written responses, problem-solving tasks, modelling tasks, projects

Outcomes Outcome 3: Students should be able to use the CASIO CLASSPAD CALCULATOR to produce results and carry out analysis in situations requiring problem solving, modelling or investigative techniques or approaches in at least thee of the areas of study.

Assessments Outcome 1: Topic Tests & Chapter Work Outcome 2: Application Tasks Outcome 3: Use of Technology

Passing Complete 80% of Outcome Tasks Topic Tests & Application Tasks Achieve a pass of 40% on each Outcome Task Topic Tests & Application Tasks Have a minimum of 90% Attendance

Away for a lesson? It is your responsibility to catch up on any work missed due to absences.

Away for an Outcome? Bring: A medical certificate OR A relevant certificate Complete the assessment A letter will be sent home You will sit the Assessment at a later date

Failing to Satisfy an Outcome? A letter is sent home Complete a Resit May cause to drop from the subject!
