Service System Structural Proposals Intermediate Bodies And State/National Services
2
Intermediate Bodies
3
Occupy space between service bodies – like an accordion Formed based on need Facilitate communication; may deliver services
4
Flexible Form should follow function. Communities need a structure flexible enough to works well for them.
5
Reduce travel for rural GSUs Reduce size of urban LSUs Allow minority language groups to come together
6
Neighboring LSUs can send delegate(s) Reduces travel time Reduces number of delegates in large state/national body
7
State/National Services
8
Defined by Geographic Boundaries Follows established geographic boundaries. Allows easier interface with professional and legislative bodies. Makes it easier for the public to find and communicate with us.
9
Intended Services State/national service bodies: Interact with government and professional bodies Organize assemblies and conventions Coordinate centralized resources Provide a communication link
10
Consists of a state, province, or country Could consist of neighboring states, provinces, or countries for seating purposes Provides services that cover the whole state, province, or country Border communities may join neighboring states if practical
11
Challenges: Unclear boundaries often make public relations difficult Solutions: Using existing geographic boundaries makes communication with the public easier and makes it easier for addicts to find NA
12
Challenges: Some places underserved by our current regions Solutions: Service bodies will be responsible for the whole of the state, ensuring that all locations are served
13
Challenges: Duplication of services and inefficient use of resources Solutions: Having one service body for the state, or country, will help eliminate some duplication
14
Discussion Questions Intermediate Bodies Considering the size, density, or other characteristics of your community: How could using an intermediate body be useful? What, if any, challenges might using an intermediate body create?
15
Discussion Questions State/National Services Picture applying these models in your community: How would these proposals help you to maintain what is positive in our current system concerning state-, province-, or national-level service delivery, or improve your state-, province-, or national-level service delivery? What, if any, challenges might these proposals create in your state-, province-, or national-level service delivery?
