Thursday, Feb. 26 th 188 2/26/15 Thurs. L.T.: I can use my prior knowledge and info from a video clip to help answer Qs about the science of roller coasters. I can then show my understanding creatively in a left side activity. DO NOW: T or F and why: After the first drop and before the end, a roller coaster is always accelerating. ………………………………… Left Side Activities: 1.Roller Coaster Design: 2.Graphing PE and KE 3.Making an Ad 189 Title: Roller Coaster Physics Roller Coaster Physics Q sheet taped in here Answers to your Qs written here: 1 2 3 4 5

As you watch the video clip… When we watch, we are at VL 0. When we pause, VL 2 discussion with our neighbors about what we saw/heard that helps answer the Qs or anything class-related. Write down your thoughts. Exc: (If there is a leader that rises up in our class, this person can direct a short class conversation.)

Left Side Activities Option 1: Roller Coaster Design From what you know from class and the video, 1) draw a design your own roller coaster that would maximize speed and 2) not run out of KE before the end. Write an explanation that describes how your RC design fits the 2 criteria. Option 3: Making an Ad You are in charge of making an ad that will attract people to ride a new roller coaster at Enchanted Village. Add 3 science facts into your ad as to how the roller coaster will work and what kind of effect it will have on riders. Include a picture and persuasive language! Option 2: Graphing PE and KE Draw this loop and the 5 points of interest. Draw a bar graph at each point showing the PE and KE levels. Explain why the PE and KE levels are the way you mark them.
