Coulomb’s Law: F Q = Electrostatic force (N) k = Coulomb’s constant (N*m 2 ) / C 2 q 1 = Electric Charge object 1 (C) q 2 = Electric Charge object 2 (C) r 2 = Distance between centres r (m)

7
Coulomb’s Law for 3 particles: What is happening to particle C?
8
Multiple Charges: All forces are vector quantities and obey the laws of vector addition. Please copy the example people to the left.
9
Key ideas: Charge A and B both exert a force on C Even knowing A and B effect each other, this has no immediate effect on C. The net force on charge C is the vector sum of the two forces exerted by both charges A and B.

Coulomb’s Law: Work sheet on Coulomb’s law due on October 25 th, 2013 To be passed in: –Each student needs to pass in a copy. –Randomly selected problems will be graded.
