Sophisticated information recording system based on math and mnemonics. Data stored in a series of knotted cords. Requires schooling and a bureaucratic class of “accountants” knowledgeable of the specific quipu and system employed. Also trained in mathematics.

Our first step is to recognize elements of the quipu. Next we will try to decode the Inca counting system. Finally we will put our new knowledge to the test by constructing a quipu of the same type to record a significant number.
