2. Restroom Maintenance
Restroom cleanliness is a common complaint and can reflect on the cleanliness of the entire facility
The intent of this training program is to provide cleaning professionals with a system for restroom care that optimizes cleanliness, time, and efficiency
More than half of customer complaints about cleanliness are related to the condition of restrooms. A dirty or bad-smelling restroom can serve as a judgment of cleanliness of the rest of the facility. For this reason, maintaining restroom appearance and odor is one of the most important aspects of the cleaning process. A clean restroom instills confidence in customers or visitors that the entire facility is clean and well-maintained
The intent of this training program is to provide a step-by-step process for top to bottom restroom cleaning that ensures every problem area is covered in an efficient manner.

This slide contains all the equipment and supplies that are needed for the top to bottom cleaning process.

5. Step 1: Assemble Supplies and Safety Equipment
Put on gloves, safety goggles, and any other desired protective equipment
Assemble refills for paper towel, toilet paper, and soap dispensers
Prepare ready-to-use solutions of required cleaners using their correct dilutions
The first step of the process is to put on personal protective equipment. This should always include gloves and safety goggles. Other protective equipment can be worn depending on the situation. Once protective equipment is on, you can then begin to assemble your supplies. This includes refills for all dispensers, tools such as toilet bowl brushes and cloths, and the cleaners. Cleaners should be diluted into spray bottles.

6. Step 2: Announce Yourself
Knock on restroom door to ensure it is not occupied before beginning
Before entering, always assume the restroom is occupied. Knock on the door before entering.

7. Step 3: Caution Signs
Set up caution signs or wet floor signs to block access to the restroom until the process is complete
Place caution signs at the entrance to block access until the floor is dry.

8. Step 4: Toilets & Urinals
Evacuate toilet bowls
Apply bowl cleaner to interior and under rim of toilet bowls and urinals – don’t flush
Evacuate the water from the toilet bowl. Apply bowl cleaner under the rim on the interior of the bowl and allow it to sit while continuing with the rest of the process.

9. Step 5: Dust
Dust the exterior of all dispensers, hand dryers, fixtures, counters, and baby-changing stations
Dust high light fixtures and other high surfaces
Use a cloth or dust rag to dust dispensers, hand dryers, counters, baby changing stations, and any other fixtures in the restroom. Dust high light fixtures, partitions, and other high surfaces.

10. Step 6: Clean surfaces, dispensers, and fixtures
Spray glass cleaner on mirrors and any other glass surface and wipe clean with a dry cloth
Spray cleaner on sinks, counters, the exterior of dispensers and hand dryers, and baby-changing stations and wipe clean
If using a disinfectant, leave the surface visibly moist and allow to air dry
Clean partitions and walls as needed with all purpose cleaner
Once the surfaces and fixtures have been dusted, spray them with all-purpose cleaner and wipe clean. If you’re using a disinfectant, leave the surfaces visibly moist and allow them to air dry. Clean the mirrors and any other glass with glass cleaner and wipe clean. Use all-purpose cleaner on the walls and partitions.

11. Step 7: Trash
Spray exterior of trash cans with disinfectant cleaner so the surface is visibly moist – allow to air dry
Empty trash
Clean interior of trash can as needed
Put in new trash bag
Disinfect outside of trash can and leave surface visibly moist. Remove the trash bag and clean the interior with all purpose cleaner or disinfectant cleaner. If using a disinfectant, leave surface visibly moist. When dry, replace trash bag with a new one.

12. Step 8: Sweep Floor
Use broom or dust mop to thoroughly sweep loose dirt
Focus on corners and other hard to reach places
Consolidate dirt and place in trash
Thoroughly sweep the floor to pick up any loose dirt or other debris. Make sure to reach corners and behind toilets/in between urinals, and next to partitions.

13. Step 9: Restock & Refill
Restock toilet paper, paper towels, and any other dispensers as needed
Refill soap dispensers
Check toilet paper, paper towels, soap dispensers, and any other dispensers. Restock if needed.

14. Step 10: Toilets & Urinals
Return to toilets and urinals and clean exterior with disinfectant cleaner. Allow to air dry
Swab interior with a toilet bowl brush
Flush
Return to toilets and urinals. Spray disinfectant cleaner on exterior surfaces and allow to air dry. Swab the interior with a bowl brush until interior is clean. Flush.

15. Step 11: Mop Floor Dilute cleaner into mop bucket
Start at far edge of the restroom and work towards the door
Allow floor to air dry
Use correct dilution to prepare disinfectant cleaner solution in a mop bucket. Mop the floor thoroughly, making sure to remove any dirty areas or stains, and reaching behind toilets or urinals and under partitions. Always start at the far edge of the restroom and work towards the door. Allow the floor to air dry.

16. Step 12: Wrap up Replace supplies and cleaners www.multi-clean.com
Put away all supplies used. Once the process is complete and the floor is dry, the caution signs can be removed.
