AIMS School TOPIC There is evidence that the Internet is already used in early youth: it has to be supported, finding every kind of strategy in order to prevent a dangerous use of the web.School and families are the main front line agencies. It is necessary to pick out strategies that will help teachers to move students towards a more conscious use of the web. This can be done with an even more appropriate introduction of Web in the didactic field. The purpose of the PLAY WEB project is to create a European network of middle schools (10-14 years old) able to produce: *A range of analysis tools of the socio-educational reality of the attending students. 3. AIMS School DESCRIPTION This Placard game is very simple. It consists of a placard made of cardboard with the PLAYWEB logo on top and two rectangles drawn underneath. It comes with a set of 20 cards (10 concepts and 10 definitions). A printable version can be downloaded from the PLAYWEB website (http://www.play-web.eu). 4. AIMS School PROCEDURE The placard should be put in a place where it can be well seen by all students. The teacher sticks a concept card on the left rectangle of the placard. A student or team must choose the correct definition to it from the 10 available answer cards and stick it on the corresponding right rectangle of the placard. 5. AIMS School ACTIVITIES The teacher can choose from a variety of possibilities with this placard. This can be a timed game with teams competing to see if they can get all the 10 matchings of concept/definition or a timed contest can be made. All definitions are correct depending on the concept chosen. It is also possible to play this game on the reverse, by giving the definition and asking the students to suggest the concept. 6. AIMS School AIM The aim of this simple game is to clarify everyday concepts related with the Internet. The words chosen for the game are of everyday use but the clarification of their meaning is an excellent opportunity to talk with the students about them and the dangers they encompass.
