But when it does, we consider it a “blessing”. You need to be flexible, energetic, understanding ( and rich) for the incumbent! You need to prepare for lots of worrying and being patient under the most exasperating circumstances You need to know yourself really well before you guide or lead this new person in your life! What people want Today’s employees expect more than a job and a paycheck: they expect meaningful work; they expect to be challenged; they want to see the “big picture” and know where they fit in; they require expectations and guidance; they want to contribute; they demand feedback; they crave on-going training (education). provide leadership – not opportunity for subordination they respond to emotion & gurus they emulate – but they must see something in it for them fixed pay – they still want that! but i live in a lot more insecure world – fire me tomorrow or give me a larger share of the upside.

Do you often increase your staff's responsibilities and opportunities? Do you frequently provide training and learning opportunities for staff? Do you treat all staff with dignity and respect as you do your best customer? Do you encourage creativity and seek candid feedback from staff?
