8. Timetable Vanguard Phase  Initiate study in all countries and address logistic issues. –Target 35,000 subjects from 100 communities –Recruitment:  1000 subjects/ country. Main Study (January 2006 to December 2007/ Early 2008)  recruitment of an additional 105,000 subjects 3-yearly follow-up for upto 12 years (2006 onwards, until 2018)

Timetable (2/2) Analysis and Publications –Concept/Design, Bangalore Pilot: in 2006 –Vanguard in 2007 onwards: based on baseline data from limited number of countries –2008/ 2009 onwards: publications based on the entire study and from all countries –Bloods stored until high power for nested case- control analyses or specific hypotheses
