Concepts Conservation of Rotational Energy: – Pendulum Elastic Potential Energy: – Mouse Trap Conservation of Linear Momentum : – Metal ball into Newton’s Cradle – Newton’s Cradle into Cup of Marbles Center of Mass: – Dominoes Projectile Motion: – From PVC pipe into Newton’s Cradle – From PVC pipe tube into dominoes – Ball rolling off wood hitting the phone underneath it Torque: – Pencil turning as it lifts a piece of wood Rotational Kinetic Energy: – At any point where the ball is rolling Translational Kinetic Energy: – Ball moving through PVC pipe – Ball rolling down block of wood

Equations Conservation of Rotational Energy – L = r x mv Elastic Potential Energy – W =.5kx² Conservation of Linear Momentum – M₁V₁ + M₂V₂ = M₁V₃ + M₁V₄ Center of Mass – x distance: m₁x₁ + m₂v₂/m₁ + m₂ – Y distance: m₁y₁ + m₂y₂/m₁ + m₂ Projectile Motion (y-y₀) = (tanθ)(x-x₀) –(g/2v₀²)(1+tan²θ)(x-x₀)² Torque – τ = |F||r|sinθ Rotational Kinetic Energy –.5Iw² Translational Kinetic Energy –.5mv²

In Conclusion Troubles: – The piece of wood that is raised to drop the metal ball into the pvc pipe does not have a 100% success rate. – The dominos are susceptible to being knocked over if the project is tampered with. Overall the project strengthened our understanding of course material in a new and exciting way.
