Comparative Effectiveness Research ●(CER) is the direct comparison of existing healthcare interventions to determine which works best for which patients and which pose the greatest benefits and harms. ●Non-profit research institute that compares the effectiveness of treatments ●an independent body of physicians and patient an independent body of physicians and patient representatives that aids patients, physicians and policymakers in the application and use of comparative effectiveness information to improve the quality and value of healthcare in the region. Medical Malpractice ●Award five year demonstration grants to states to develop, implement, and evaluate alternatives to current civil wrongs due to negligence. ●Preference is given to the states that have proposals that are likely to help enhance patient safety by reducing medical errors. Amber

Medicare ●National Medicare pilot program to achieve improvement goals such as inpatient hospital services, outpatient hospital services, physician services, and more. ●If the program achieves these goals of improving quality and reducing spending, develop a plan for expanding the program. Amber

Medicare (continued) ●Create Independence at Home demonstration program. ●Under the Independence at Home Demonstration, the CMS Innovation Center will work with medical practices to test the effectiveness of delivering comprehensive primary care services at home and if doing so improves care for Medicare beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions. Additionally, the Demonstration will reward health care providers that provide high quality care while reducing costs. Amber

Medicaid Although Medicaid does not usually provide Long-Term Care (LTC), changes are being made in different states so medicare accepts LTC By these changes being made, citizens that belong receiving more care than what is otherwise needed are able to receive that care. Patrick Kenke
